Did LED ZEPPELIN Rip Off A Folk Singer?
June 29, 2010TMZ.com reports that Jimmy Page is being sued by a folk singer who claims the LED ZEPPELIN guitarist "copied" the 1967 folk song "Dazed and Confused" for the 1969 ZEPPELIN classic of the same name.
According to the federal lawsuit (court documents in PDF format) obtained by TMZ.com, folk singer Jake Holmes says he snagged a copyright for "Dazed and Confused" in 1967, two years before ZEPPELIN recorded its version that sounds suspiciously similar.
According to TMZ.com, even if a court decides Page "ripped off" Holmes, the folk singer can only sue for damages from the last three years, because of statute of limitations.
