DIMEBAG Custom WASHBURN Guitar Being Auctioned For $34,000!

April 26, 2007

A "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott custom Washburn guitar autographed by Dimebag and his brother Vinnie at a DAMAGEPLAN CD signing early 2004 is being auctioned via eBay for a whopping $34,000 (!). The guitar, which is said to be one of only six in existence, "is in brand new condition, no nicks, scratches or imperfections," according to the seller. "It is a string-thru, set neck guitar. The finish looks amazing, it is impossible to replicate using pictures."

As previously reported, Dimebag will be honored at Britain's Download festival in June — a stage will be named after him. Organizers of the Donington Park three-day event have opted to name their second stage after the former PANTERA guitarist, who was shot and killed during a show in Columbus, Ohio in December 2004.

A spokesman for the festival says, "We are proud to announce the second stage at this year's festival will be called The Dimebag Darrell Stage. Festival organizers felt that this was a fitting tribute to a legendary man that has influenced and inspired many great bands."

Abbott's brother and former PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN band mate Vinnie Paul adds, "I am proud to announce we have the privilege of honoring my brother by naming the second stage after him... This is a huge honor."
