DIR EN GREY: 'Dozing Green' Video Available

"Dozing Green", the new video from Japan's DIR EN GREY, can be viewed below. The clip was helmed by by the band's longtime director Hiroyuki Kondo and took two and a half months to create, from filming to post-production.

"Being one of the most renown in its genre, the manga depicts cruel imagery of a battle for survival by a group of elementary school children," guitaristKaoru told Headbangers Blog. "The story was also adopted into a Japanese drama series with a more modern twist. We are actually fans of Mr. Umezu's works and simply wanted to use his manga in our video. The play in the video shows puppets in an imaginary world created using 'fumie,' or the 'step-on stone.' 'Fumie' are originally stones with carvings of Christ or the Virgin Mary used in the Edo period by officials of the Japanese government to reveal practicing Catholics and sympathizers."

"Dozing Green" comes off DIR EN GREY's seventh full-length album, "Uroboros", which will be released in the U.S. on November 11 via The End Records. The disc will come out the next day in Japan on Firewall and November 14 in Europe thorugh Gan-Shin. Domestically, the album will be available in four formats: digital album; CD jewel case; deluxe limited-edition CD digipak with bonus track and DVD; and 12" LP with a digital download card included.

"The album will be stuffed with themes of 'guilt and reincarnation' as well as 'the past, present and future of DIR EN GREY,'" guitarist Kaoru explained back in May. "This will be heavier and darker than previous albums, with a sort of oriental and religious mood and connotations. We're experimenting with different sounds — we'd like to introduce a multitude of different instruments on this album."
