DISCARD Announces New Singer

September 13, 2008

Tommi "Rotten" Virranta of DEATCHAIN and SURVIVORS ZERO fame has been chosen as the new lead singer of Finnish modern thrashers DISCARD. The decision was finalized after Virranta and DISCARD shared the stage last week at Karjalantalo in Joensuu, Finland

"The spirits and expectations are high," states Virranta. "The guys are very fucking talented musicians and composers, and in my opinion, DISCARD is the best modern thrash metal band of this country."

DISCARD had been without a frontman since the end of August when former singer Heikki Miettinen left the band prior to the start a large-scale European tour. The group is currently writing material for its upcoming album and performing select shows with the new singer.

"The atmosphere inside the band has cleansed and the enthusiasm is at an all-time high," states basist Mikko Kytösaho. "We couldn't have found a more suitable vocalist for us! Virranta's self-confident stage presence and solid experience will lift the band to a new level."

DISCARD's critically acclaimed debut, "Carrion" (Shadow World Records),has been released in nine different countries so far.
