DISTURBED/DEVICE's DAVID DRAIMAN Will 'Never, Ever Apologize' For Anything He Tweets

April 24, 2013

According to The Pulse Of Radio, DISTURBED and DEVICE frontman David Draiman is one of Twitter's most active rock musicians, constantly tweeting not just about his bands but about politics, world events and breaking news. Draiman explained to Loudwire why he likes using the social network, saying, "I started it primarily as a mean of maintaining a dialogue and a contact between myself and the fanbase so they can ask me their questions. I can tell them what I think about certain issues that I've asked about time and time again so that I can use the gift I've been given and the position I've been given to just at least speak my opinion and offer a little bit of hope and encouragement and light to people."

Draiman told The Pulse Of Radio he's not worried whether fans agree or disagree with the opinions he posts on Twitter. "I will never, ever apologize for being passionate about the things that I believe in, and it is just that, it is just an opinion, and people don't have to share my opinion," he said. "I'm never preaching those opinions to anyone, but I try to give people an insight to the way I think and the way I believe and the way I feel about things."

Although he likes to speak out on politics, and his own father recently ran for mayor of Los Angeles, Draiman said that he has no interest himself in running for office. He said, "No, no, never. I couldn't, I certainly am not in any way shape or form dishonest enough . . . I'm not good enough at b.s."

DEVICE's self-titled debut album came out on April 9, selling 35,000 copies in its first week of release to debut at No. 11 on the Billboard album chart.

The live version of DEVICE, which features DOPE guitarist Virus and EVANESCENCE drummer Will Hunt in addition to Draiman, is currently on its first tour and stops Thursday night (April 25) in Houston.

Draiman's other band, DISTURBED, has been on hiatus since late 2011. Draiman said that the group will get back together at some point but that there is "no plan in place" yet to reconvene.
