DISTURBED Frontman On Presidential Candidates: 'I Have Issues With Everybody'

April 21, 2008

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman recently told The Pulse of Radio where he stands on the current field of presidential candidates, including Democratic Senators Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama and Republican Senator John McCain. "I have issues with everybody," he said. "I'm liberal about everything that is issue-based as far as ideology, but I'm also of the opinion of a very small government. I don't agree with the fiscal policies of either one of the Democrats, but I certainly don't agree with the right-wing craziness of the Republicans. So if I had really had to choose, I at this point would probably choose the lesser of all evils, and it would probably be Obama to me."

As previously reported, Draiman told the German edition of Metal Hammer magazine that he considers Hillary Rodham Clinton an "embarrassment to herself and everything she represents. I think that she's a two-faced liar. I think that she talks out of one side and then talks out of the other, and she shifts with...whatever. She's a true politician. It's not about a cause to her it's about getting what's for her." Draiman added, "I would have no problem with a woman as president I have a problem with Hillary Clinton as president. I think the right woman could be great. She's not the right woman."

The singer also revealed that this "may be the first election in three that I will vote." But Draiman also admitted he's "skeptical" about whether Obama can win the presidency, saying, "I still hope for it, and to be perfectly honest with you, if it comes down to it and he does have the candidacy, he's getting my vote."

DISTURBED's new album, "Indestructible", arrives on June 3. A deluxe limited edition of the disc can be ordered at disturbed.com/preorder.html.

The Chicago-based band will begin a spring U.S. tour on April 26 in Little Rock, Arkansas, with dates stretching into late May. Following its spring solo run and European dates in June, DISTURBED will co-headline the Rockstar Mayhem Energy Tour with SLIPKNOT in July and August.
