DISTURBED: New Video Interview With DAVID DRAIMAN Available

July 24, 2009

Holland's FaceCulture recently conducted an interview with DISTURBED vocalist David Draiman. Watch the chat in four parts below.

Draiman talked politics with the German magazine Metal Hammer during the band's recent stop at a Belgian music festival, saying that "so far" he thinks President Barack Obama is "doing well." Draiman explained, "He seems to be heading in the right direction. His intentions are certainly good. I don't know how realistic a public healthcare system is going to be, a socialized healthcare; that may be well beyond his presidency, even if he comes through a second term . . . But as far as getting greener, as far as changing the impression of the United States on a worldwide level — being a little bit more of an open hand as opposed to a closed fist — is a good thing. So we're very hopeful — I'm very hopeful — of what he'll be able to accomplish."

Draiman said he was "pleased, but not surprised" at Obama's accomplishments so far, adding, "I think that, actually, Americans in general, you'll find, by nature are rather impatient. We expect things to happen very, very quickly. So... not surprised, but definitely pleased, and hopeful that it will continue in that direction."

DISTURBED, and especially Draiman, have been supportive of Obama since he began running for President, with Draiman saying, "I, actually, was hopeful that Barack Obama would become a presidential candidate when he first spoke at the (2004) Democratic National Convention, when he was the keynote speaker; that was my first exposure to him."

DISTURBED hails from Chicago, which is where Obama worked as a state senator and U.S. senator before heading to the White House.

Earlier this month, DISTURBED played its last show in support of its 2008 album "Indestructible". The band has been on the road behind the record for nearly 15 months. Draiman recently told a Canadian newspaper that the band may ease back on its relentless touring schedule, saying, "I don't think that at our age and with the level of strenuousness that this life requires that we can continue beating the hell out of ourselves the way that we have."
