DISTURBED Singer Says First Nights On OZZFEST Are 'Awesome'
June 16, 2006Launch Radio Networks report: DISTURBED currently has a couple of weeks off before beginning its co-headlining run on this summer's Ozzfest, but vocalist David Draiman told Launch he's already looking forward to the beginning of the annual metal and hard rock festival. "You know, the first couple of nights on the big stage are just awesome," he said. "It's wonderful to see that many people come to celebrate heavy music and to know that they're still there, and to see the exuberance. People wait for that tour, and they kind of save up not only money that they would need to buy the ticket, but their energy. And they gear themselves up for it, amp themselves up for it, it's always a hell of a crowd."
Ozzfest kicks off on June 29 in Seattle, Washington. DISTURBED will co-headline with SYSTEM OF A DOWN, with tour namesake OZZY OSBOURNE topping the bill on selected dates.
As reported here yesterday, an Ozzfest date scheduled for July 14 at the Float-Rite Park in Somerset, Wisconsin has been canceled, reportedly due to low ticket sales. The cancellation was noted on the official Ozzfest web site without any explanation.
The festival has just added the Brothers Grim Sideshow stage to the festival's "Village of the Damned" concourse at nine of the tour's dates. The Sideshow is billed as the "World's Greatest Collection Of Human Oddities, Strange People (and) Novel Entertainers."
