DJERV Seeking Musicians To Complete Live Lineup

February 19, 2010

DJERV, the new Norwegian rock/metal act featuring members of ANIMAL ALPHA, STONEGARD, WARDRUNA and TRELLDOM, is seeking musicians to complete its live lineup. Operating as a three-piece on the recording front, the band needs to recruit a bass player and a second guitarist before the start of the summer festival season.

DJERV is looking for professional people, and being able to sing well is a huge asset.

All applicants should send an email containing bio, references, pictures, video links, MySpace and Facebook URLs etc. to [email protected].

You do not have to live in Norway, but you have to be flexible and show up for rehearsals prior to live shows.

DJERV's first announced show will take place August 11-14 at the Oya festival in Oslo.

"DJERV is going strong these days," says singer Agnete Kjølsrud. "We are working on new tracks for our debut album, and the songs are coming out really good. They have a lot of attitude, anger and of course some love in them. [Guitarist Stian Kårstad] is pouring out ice-cold riffs as it was like turning on the water — really impressive.

"The tracks are quite unique and different from each other. We got one classic shuffle rockish track and on the other side there is this chillingly cold old-school black metal track.

"It is a lot of fun, and we cannot wait to try them out the live."

DJERV writes its music in a "modern way," sending guitars, drum tracks and vocals to each other over the Internet. "It works great for us and makes the whole songwriting process very efficient, but we're going to need to play the tracks together as well for a while in the rehearsal space to nail them down properly," drummer Erlend Gjerde comments.

DJERV was formed as a result of both ANIMAL ALPHA and STONEGARD splitting up during the past year. STONEGARD was laid to rest due to internal conflicts just as their new album was out and weeks prior to a two-month European tour with ENSLAVED. ANIMAL ALPHA called it quits after extensive touring took them all across the world — finally getting the better of them.

Almost a year in the making, DJERV is "consciously pulling threads" of the bandmembers' former groups into the new outfit's sound, according to a press release.

"I guess we all felt our original bands had qualities we should bring along into this constellation," Erlend states. "By all means, DJERV is a new band with a new sound, but you can easily tell who's singing to put it that way. Agnete's incredible voice and personality was the main characteristic of ANIMAL ALPHA, but we have consciously worked towards a more sinister expression. The overall sound is stripped down, groove-oriented and melodic, yet Stian's cold black metal-influenced riffing underpins the dark moods of the music."
