DORO Pens New Song For German Female Boxing Champion

August 4, 2004

German metal singer DORO (a.k.a. Doro Pesch) has just finished writing the new entrance theme song for Germany's most successful female boxing star, world champion Regina Halmich. The premiere of this cooperation will be presented on September 11, 2004 at the world championship fight against Las Vegas-based Elena Reid — to be broadcast live in German television. The 5,000 seats of the DM Arena in Karlsruhe, where the match will be held, are almost entirely sold out.

Last weekend, Doro made a guest appearance on the German "Goodyear" TV program, a weekly show about cars and traveling. Doro's nerve-racking job was to speed-test four cars - a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche and Mercedes. The show was broadcast last Sunday on SAT 1.

Doro recently completed work with the Metal Classic Night Orchestra on her first album for AFM Records, entitled "Classic Diamonds". Due on September 20, the CD will contain reworked classics from Doro's 20-year career as well as several new songs which were specially composed for this project. An EP release, "Let Love Rain On Me", will precede the album on August 9. Special guests on the CD include Blaze Bayley (BLAZE, ex-IRON MAIDEN),Kai Hansen (GAMMA RAY, ex-HELLOWEEN) and Udo Dirkschneider (U.D.O., ex-ACCEPT). The album will be available as a standard jewel-case version and a highly exclusive and limited digibook printed on special aluminum foil. A video for the first single, "Let Love Rain On Me" (mp3 sample),will also be available on the limited version as well as four bonus tracks.

Doro's performance at the Rockpalast club in Cologne, Germany on August 19 will be filmed for future broadcast on German national television.
