December 6, 2006DOWN drummer Jimmy Bower (also in EYEHATEGOD, SUPERJOINT RITUAL) has issued the following update on the songwriting sessions for the group's third album:
"[The new DOWN] record's going great. Y'all are gonna freak — I am. It's cold as fuck; makes for better doom. . . You ain't gonna be dead before the next DOWN CD. Things are on FIRE and we have a big point to prove here. The South shall always rise while we are at the helm!!"
As previously reported, a full-length live version the DOWN song "Ghosts along the Mississippi", recorded on November 21, 2002 in Washington, D.C. (the same day DOWN recorded its acoustic version of "Stone The Crow" at the studios of XM Radio),has been made available for download at DOWN's official MySpace page. Pictures of the band recording in the studio that day, and playing live that night, are available at this location.
DOWN members Pepper Keenan (guitar; also in CORROSION OF CONFORMITY),Bower, Kirk Windstein (guitar; also in CROWBAR),and Philip Anselmo (vocals; also in SUPERJOINT RITUAL, ex-PANTERA) performed at Tiptina's in New Orleans, Louisiana on November 12 as part of the "Sunday Music Workshop Series". The brainchild of Stanton Moore and Johnny and Deborah Vidacovich, the workshops take place every Sunday from 12:30 to 3:30 at Tipitina's Uptown, where students have the opportunity to play with and learn from the best musicians in the city.
