DRAGONLAND To Enter Studio Next Week

July 20, 2006

Swedish power metallers DRAGONLAND will enter Studio Fredman (IN FLAMES, HAMMERFALL, DIMMU BORGIR) in Gothenburg on July 24 with producer Fredrik Nordström to record their fourth album, "Astronomy", tentatively due in November through Century Media Records. The cover art for the follow-up to 2004's "Starfall" will be conceived by art genius Niklas Sundin (ARCH ENEMY, IN FLAMES, DARK TRANQUILLITY) and the photos for the album will be taken by camera wizard Olle Carlsson (H.I.M., THE HAUNTED, SOILWORK).

Commented guitarist/composer Olof Mörck: "This album is another huge step on the way of finding our unique galaxy in the melodic metal firmament. It is partly a musical resumé over our previous career, retaining all the core elements of what made DRAGONLAND what it has always been about, but most of all it is a progression towards the future of metal and powerful music in general.

"The two years since the 'Starfall' album was recorded has been spent full time composing and writing for the new album, with occasional breaks of touring and gigging for inspiration and feedback, like the YNGWIE MALMSTEEN tour last year. I personally feel that this album is what I always wanted us to write unified, yet diverse conceptual, yet not limited to a certain mood or atmosphere very heavy and powerful, yet extremely melodic. I really hope and believe that when the listeners put in the CD, and the first song 'Supernova' explodes from the speakers, people will feel that this is something they've never heard the like of before. From there it's all about a musical journey of bombastic sound landscapes, trough sublime acoustic sections, to heavy and poundering riffing, all wrapped up by the epic 14-minute movie score song 'The Old House on the Hill', which alone took five months of intense labor to write. Be ready for stellar phenomenae and astral ascension in November!"
