DREAM THEATER Keyboardist Pays Musical Tribute To STEVE JOBS
October 12, 2011Keyboardist Jordan Rudess of progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER paid tribute eto Apple co-founder Steve Jobs by writing a recording a two-minute musical piece which can be heard in the YouTube clip below. Rudess writes on his YouTube page, "Although I never met Steve Jobs personally, his work greatly influenced my life and my work. I'm grateful to have been touched by his wizardry and that he shared his vision with all of us. This is a song I wrote for my own iOS instrument called MorphWiz and is a tribute to an amazing and inspirational human being."
Jobs died on October 5 at the age of 56 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
According to Billboard, Jobs' involvement in the music industry was a labor of love. He was personally involved in not only creating the iTunes digital retail system itself, but also in acquiring the music catalog he himself wanted to hear and make available on it.
