DREAM THEATER have announced the first three dates for the North American leg of their "An Evening With Dream Theater - Train of Thought 2004 World Tour". They are as follows:

Mar. 05 - San Francisco, CA @ The Warfield
Mar. 06 - Los Angeles, CA @ The Pantages Theater
Apr. 01 - Boston, MA @ Orpheum Theater

There will be no opening act, and DREAM THEATER will perform two sets with an intermission. More dates will be announced soon.

In other news, DREAM THEATER guitarist John Petrucci has posted the following message on his official web site:

"Hello everyone. Hope you all had a great New Year. I certainly did! Lately, I've been busy preparing for our 'Train of Thought' world tour. Our first show, as you may already know, is January 16th in Manchester, UK. This time around I'm bringing out a few new guitars to accommodate the different tunings on 'ToT'. We've experimented with some new colors for this run. I'm also incredibly excited about the new rig that my good buddy Mark Snyder built for me. It's entirely over-the-top and simply beautiful. All Mesa Boogie of course. :-D Just as on the new album, I've opted for Road Kings over the C+'s, same goes for this live rig. Plan on hearing several surprises during our 3 hour plus Evening With performances.

"New in 2004 - I'm debuting a John Petrucci OLP version of my signature model. I'm really excited about this more affordable version of my current guitar. Of course, my Music Mans will still be readily available. Keep a lookout for a new Boss ad campaign featuring me celebrating their sale of over 8 million pedals. We all use them, we all love them! :D

"In other news, although slow in the making (I know),I made some good progress in the studio with regard to the making of my solo CD. I appreciate everyone's patience. Over the holidays, I had the extreme pleasure of watching my wife Rena play live with a band called REVEREND JIM in New York. Check out the new picture in the photos section.

"Also, thanks to the readers of Guitar World magazine for placing me in the best metal guitarist category.

"Well, that's about all for now. I hope to start seeing some of you out there on the road very soon."
