Driver Who Hit Pedestrians After BLACK CROWES Concert Indicted On Manslaughter Charge

October 12, 2006

KGBT 4-TV in Harlingen, TX reports that a 61-year-old woman accused of driving her car into pedestrians after a BLACK CROWES concert in Austin has been indicted on an intoxication manslaughter charge.

Mary Dodgen is charged in the death of 32-year-old Austin criminal defense lawyer Jeff Wilson. He suffered massive head injuries when he was struck in an intersection July 3 and died eight days later.

A Travis County grand jury also charged Dodgen with aggravated assault for hitting four other pedestrians, including two of Wilson's friends.

Dodgen is free on bail. She'd worked in the Smith County clerk's office in Tyler before the crash.

A police affidavit said her blood-alcohol content was later found to be nearly twice the legal limit for driving.

Aggravated assault and intoxication manslaughter are second-degree felonies punishable by up to 20 years in prison. In two of the cases, she's also charged with intoxication assault, a third-degree felony with a maximum ten-year sentence.
