Drummer LUKE JOHNSON Quits AMEN

August 12, 2004

Drummer Luke Johnson has officially left Los Angeles punk/metal group AMEN. In a posting on the band's official message board, Johnson wrote, "I am sorry to tell you that I am leaving AMEN after having 2 fun, final shows with them in Japan, there are no hard feelings and I hope that they keep banging out the great tunes. I wanted to say how much I appreciate the way you all took me in when I joined and made me feel welcome. Thank you!!!" A replacement drummer has yet to be named.

AMEN's new album, "Death Before Musick", was released in May through EatUrMusic — an imprint of Columbia Records owned by SYSTEM OF A DOWN guitarist Daron Malakian.

Malakian — who makes a cameo appearance in the "California's Bleeding" video — met AMEN singer Casey Chaos when both bands played at Australia's Big Day Out festival in 2002 and the guitarist made AMEN his first signing.
