Drummer TONY LAUREANO Offers Update On Various Musical Projects

March 17, 2007

Drummer Tony Laureano (NILE, ANGELCORPSE, DIMMU BORGIR),who will be hitting the road in North America this spring with 1349, has issued the following update:

"I thought I'd point people towards a couple of new (and not so new) bands that I'm involved with. First off is OPHIDIAN. This is a new thing that I'm doing with guitarist Matt Wicklund [ex-HIMSA guitarist]. Really cool stuff that's a lot different than practically anything I've done before. NIDINGR is a Norwegian black metal band that is originated by Teloch who is a session guitarist for 1349 as well. And yet another Norwegian band is SYSTEM: OBSCURE. All bands are working on new records, so feel free to check [them] out."

SYSTEM: OBSCURE — whose lineup also includes Balfori (a.k.a. Lars Larsen) of LUNARIS, ALVHEIM and 1349 on vocals, Steinar Gundersen of SPIRAL ARCHITECT and SATYRICON on guitar, Lars Norberg of SPIRAL ARCHITECT, ANESTHESIA and SATYRICON on fretless bass, and "world-famous jazz/fusion mastermind" Bugge Wesseltoft on the Hammond organ — previously stated that their music "defies categorization, but nevertheless will appeal to any fan of blistering metal. This is music for the future."

Playing a musical style self-described as "savagely innovative" black metal, SYSTEM: OBSCURE was announced in vague terms during August 2005, after which the group cut a three-track demo and appeared at the Norwegian Inferno festival in 2006.
