EDGUY To Play 'Secret' Club Show In Germany

January 10, 2004

A "secret" EDGUY show has been announced for January 21 or 22 in Cologne, Germany. The exact date of the show is expected to be announced later today at the group's official web site.

EDGUY are going to play an exclusive "secret" show in Cologne's mini-club Underground that will be video-taped for the German music TV show WDR "Rockpalast". Tickets will be strictly limited as the club has only a capacity of a maximum of less than 250 people. Besides the classic songs EDGUY will present some of their new songs world exclusively. Tickets will probably be available for less than 10 Euros, and to avoid black-market-dealing, only two tickets will likely be available per order.

In other news, EDGUY frontman Tobias Sammet has posted the following message on the band's official web site:

"Hey friends, I hope you had a great Christmas and I hope your 2004 will be great, successful and healthy. EDGUY wishes you all luck and happiness in the world, a lot of money, and a lot of dirty intercourse!

"Many things happened in the EDGUY camp in the past weeks. If you think it's been getting too silent around us, we should let you know: This is just the calm before the storm. Right now, while you are sitting in front of your screen, be sure that we are putting on the warpaint and preparing for the strike! Be it the show and stage for the forthcoming tour or the promotion for the forthcoming mini-album 'King of Fools' and the full-length album 'Hellfire Club'...we are ready!

"Usually I am not a friend of pathetic phrases, but I have been sent a funny review by a guy named Denis about our last live album, 'Burning Down The Opera', that you should have a look at. It gives you some idea of what people think about the music we all love... Read some excerpts and then I am gonna get pathetic.

" 'They are back! Female impersonators is a growing aberration that is rampant in today's society. Nowhere else than in Germany is it as concentrated. These young men grow long well groomed hair, shave their legs, and pluck their eyebrows. Some of them undergo serious operations such as castration, breast implants and at night they wear make up and dresses to hang out in their local drag queen bar. Otherwise they 'sing' in drag queen power 'metal' bands. Here they are the vocalists with cut off eggs or 'eunuchen metal' as they say in Germany!'

"Well... With plucked eyebrows and shaved balls, I mean legs, I can't say, how shit-fucking happy I am with the new material, the album but of course the mini album as well. I am sure, that you have never got so much value for money on any EP in years. I have to underline again. Four of the five songs will only be available on that mini album and will not be on the album later on. And they are first class songs, no B-side shit! Only the best for the best!

"However, I am sure, we have recorded the strongest material in our career so far. A million times we have been told how old-fashioned we are, how strange, how sissy, how gay, that we probably get butt fucked by pedophile cockatoos or what the fuck ever. I do not fucking care. This is the spirit of Metal. These are the people and reviews that remind me why I always wanted to be in a metal band. All I can say: We did our best to please ourselves and we are ready to hear your opinion. You are the ones who count and you are the ones that we care about, because you are the ones who support us as long as we deliver the goods. And I'm sure you will love the new stuff, because I'm sure that you understand it and you're gonna feel it. It's impossible to get a deaf person into Mozart anyway. 2004 is the year of EDGUY, plucked eyebrows and heavy metal. And we are ready to barbecue those Denisses and have 'em for breakfast! The countdown has begun. Take care!"

EDGUY's brand-new studio album, "Hellfire Club", is due on March 15 through Nuclear Blast Records.

The follow-up to 2001's "Mandrake" was produced by EDGUY and Norman Meiritz, with additional assistance from Sascha Paeth (RHAPSODY, ANGRA),who was responsible for the drum sound on the album. The final mix took place at the famous Finnvox Studios (NIGHTWISH, STRATOVARIUS) in Helsinki, Finland.

Prior to the release of "Hellfire Club", EDGUY will release an EP, titled "King Of Fools". The five-song effort, which will contain only one track from the forthcoming full-length CD plus a 15-minute "making of" video clip (for Macintosh & PC),is due on February 2.

EDGUY are currently working on the "King Of Fools" video. According to the band's web site, "it's gonna be weird and hilarious and will be at the stations middle/end of January."
