ENSLAVED On A Rampage Through The Official U.K. Indie Chart

May 30, 2006

Norwegian prog-metal band ENSLAVED have broken into the official U.K. Indie chart at No. 38 this week with new album "Ruun".

Fond of doing things in style, the band entered not one but two charts. Sandwiched between NINA SIMONE and EVA CASSIDY in the Indie chart whilst perched rather comfortably between COHEED AND CAMBRIA and the FOO FIGHTERS in the rock/metal chart, the boys from Bergen are one of the few extreme metal bands from Norway to have managed such a feat so far. "It's just great," enthuses ENSLAVED guitarist Ivar Peersen. "Especially with the U.K. being such a big market. It's a big deal 'cos when someone talks about 'indie charts' I think of THE RACONTEURS, FRANZ FERDINAND and a bunch of other chart-topping bands. I guess that ENSLAVED is leaking out in all sorts of directions now. We could definitely be described as indie's weird cousins."

About being sandwiched between NINA SIMONE and EVA CASSIDY in the Indie chart, Peersen commented, "That's every metal man's dream."

Generally featuring major labels releases, entering such charts is a first for Norwegian extreme label, Tabu Recordings, a subsidiary of Norwegian independent distributor Tuba.
