ENSLAVED To Headline POPKOMM's Norwegian Metal Showcase

August 31, 2005

Norwegian extreme metallers ENSLAVED will headline a showcase for Norwegian metal during the upcoming Popkomm convention in Berlin, Germany. The showcase will take place on Wednesday, September 14 at the Knaack Club. Other bands scheduled to appear on the bill are RED HARVEST, MADDEM MORTEM and AUDREY HORNE.

As previously reported, ENSLAVED will be releasing their "Return to Yggdrasil – Live In Bergen" DVD in September via Tabu Recordings. The disc will feature the band's May 4 live performance in Bergen and bonus material from the band's European tour, including a band interview. The sound was handled by Lars Klokkerhaug (who mixed "ISA") and the editing of the footage was taken care of by Stig "Ese" Eliassen (guitarist of VREID, ENSLAVED's support band on their recent European tour).

ENSLAVED recently won the "Metal Album of the Year" prize at the Norwegian "Grammy" awards, Spellemannprisen, for their latest release, "ISA". The band also received the independent Alarm Award for "Best Metal Album" of 2004.

ENSLAVED performed the entire "Eld" album (originally released in 1997) during their scheduled appearance at the Hole in the Sky festival on August 26 in Bergen, Norway. This was the first and last time ever for this specific concept, according to a posting on the group's web site.
