EVAN SEINFELD On BIOHAZARD's Classic-Lineup Reunion: 'It's Incredible That We're All Alive'
October 17, 2026In a new interview with Laughing Monkey With Shawn Ratches, BIOHAZARD bassist/vocalist Evan Seinfeld spoke about the reunited band's latest album, "Divided We Fall", which was recorded and released in 2025 after he and his bandmates spent two years touring around the globe. Evan said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): "Listen, the reason the BIOHAZARD new album 'Divided We Fall' sounds as it does, which sounds like — the feedback we've gotten, the reviews, they're, like, 'This is like 'Urban Discipline 2.0'. It's like you guys went back to 1994 and it's like you just took a piece out of time,' but it sounds modern 'cause Matt Hyde produced it, who produced SLAYER and HATEBREED."
Evan went on to say that "Divided We Fall" is "far and away" BIOHAZARD's best-produced album so far. "And I also think it's some of the best vocal performances we've ever done," he added. "Danny's [Schuler] drumming is outstanding. Bobby's [Hambel] lead [guitar] playing, I think it's his best. And Billy's [Graziadei] vocals are the best, I think, they've ever been. And the way we interact with each other between the songs and go back and forth — we have a formula and it works."
Seinfeld admitted that he was initially unsure about which musical direction the new BIOHAZARD album should follow, not having recorded anything with the group since 2012's "Reborn In Defiance" effort.
"I was a little confused when we were writing because we got back together and we just went out and did a couple of shows, and immediately there was this huge demand and we were booked on tour, and we were out playing and playing and playing and playing," he explained. "And suddenly BLKIIBLK [the heavy metal imprint of Frontiers Label Group] contacts us. They're, like, 'Hey, we want you to be the first band we're gonna sign, and we wanna get behind you guys doing a new album.' And I'm starting to think in my head, like, 'How do I contribute to this to help reinvent what is BIOHAZARD.' The original guys from 1989 are gonna make a record, and we wanna pay respect to our legacy, and we wanna give our fans what they want, but we still wanna grow and evolve as artists. It's a tough spot. And in my head, I kept thinking about something different and new. And Matt Hyde, he turned to us and he goes, 'You guys are overthinking this. You're BIOHAZARD. Make a BIOHAZARD record.' He goes, 'Think about what you were writing about then and just flow.' He says, 'You don't have to try to make it different. Try to make it like you make it.' You don't go to Joe's Pizza in New York City on 6th Avenue and Bleecker and Carmine for them to have some variation. You want the pure thing."
Elaborating on why he thinks "Divided We Fall" sounds so similar to the early classic BIOHAZARD albums, Evan said: "You wanna hear something interesting? I was on some music interview. I forgot — it was Metal Hammer or something, and the guy said to me, he said, 'There's this huge resurgence of all these bands from the '90s, and even some from the '80s right now are bigger than ever.' And I didn't know where he was going with this. And he starts naming all the bands that we've been playing with at festivals. And I don't understand where he's going with this, and he says, 'I want you to know that I've been doing my research, and BIOHAZARD is the only band in the hardcore scene, in the underground metal scene, where it's the original band.' Danny joined the band in late 1989, or 1990, in early 1990. And our first drummer, [Anthony] Meo, passed away recently, but when Danny joined the band, that's when it became a real band, and we got a record deal and we went out and toured. And 38 years later, the same four guys are here, and that's really a testament to our commitment to what we do. And it's incredible that we're all alive. Everybody's in good shape."
"Divided We Fall" arrived in October 2025 via BLKIIBLK. The recording sessions for the LP took place at Shorefire Recording Studios in Long Branch, New Jersey and The Hydeaway in Van Nuys, California, with engineering by Joseph DeMaio and additional recording from Matt Hyde. Guitar and production tech duties were handled by Phil Caivano.
The first reunion show from the reunited classic lineup of BIOHAZARD took place in May 2023 at the Milwaukee Metal Fest in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Prior to BIOHAZARD's latest reunion, the group, which is acknowledged as one of the earliest outfits to fuse hardcore punk and heavy metal with elements of hip-hop, had been out of the public eye since Scott Roberts left the band more than 10 years ago.
Roberts, who played guitar on BIOHAZARD's 2005 album "Means To An End", rejoined the group in June 2011 as the replacement for Seinfeld. Scott fronted BIOHAZARD for nearly five years before exiting the band in February 2016.
