EVANESCENCE Singer Gets Engaged

January 9, 2007

EVANESCENCE frontwoman Amy Lee has gotten engaged to her boyfriend of the past year, a psychiatrist named Josh.

Lee announced the engagement while making an appearance on the Canadian music show "Live@Much" (broadcast from the MuchMusic headquarters in Toronto) earlier today (Tuesday, January 9).

A video of Lee's announcement can be found at YouTube.com.

Lee wrote the first single, "Call Me When You're Sober", off the group's latest CD about her former boyfriend, SEETHER frontman Shaun Morgan, who checked himself into rehab last July. Lee herself said that she's not worried about listeners knowing exactly what inspired the song. "'Call Me When You're Sober' says something that's impossible to hide from," she said. "I'm stuck with everyone knowing exactly what I'm talking about. And if there's consequences for that, which there are, then I have to face them. But it's true, and it really happened, and it meant so much to me and felt so good to just blurt it out that it was worth it. And I think it's a really great song and I'm really proud of it."

Morgan entered a rehab facility in late July for unspecified substance abuse issues.
