EVEMASTER Begin Writing New Album
December 22, 2004Finnish "dark metal" band EVEMASTER are currently writing material for their third album, tentatively due next year via an as-yet-undetermined label. "New songs are starting to get shape and I have four songs nearing completion at the moment," guitarist Tomi Mykkänen writes on the band's web site. "I must say that the direction the songs are heading is more darker than on [the sophomore album] 'Wither'. The work I did on [the re-recorded version of the debut album] 'MMIV Lacrimae Mundi' lately have steered me to this direction. I'm sure there are quite a few people out there who don't mind. So darker and heavier album is coming!"
As previously reported, Rising Realm Records has set a February 22, 2005 release date for the re-recorded version of EVEMASTER's debut album, re-titled "MMIV Lacrimae Mundi". Drums on "MMIV Lacrimae Mundi" were handled by CHILDREN OF BODOM's Jaska Raatikainen. According to the band, the idea behind the re-recording was to make it "as punk as possible … a lot harsher sounding and heavier than the original version."
EVEMASTER released their second CD, "Wither", earlier in the year through Crash Music Inc. (via a licensing deal with Low Frequency). The follow-up to 1998's "Lacrimae Mundi" was recorded at Astia Studios (CHILDREN OF BODOM, WARMEN, ENTWINE) with producer Anssi Kippo and features a guest appearance on drums by Raatikainen. Also included on the CD was a cover of TAROT's "Wings Of Darkness", with lead vocals courtesy of Marco Hietala (NIGHTWISH, TAROT, ex-SINERGY).
