EVILE Guitarist Gives LADY GAGA's 'Born This Way' Heavy Metal Makeover

July 5, 2011

Guitarist Ol Drake of British thrashers EVILE has written and arranged a heavy version of the Lady Gaga's hit "Born This Way". The resulting track, which according to Ol Drake represents "how 'Born This Way' would have sounded if JUDAS PRIEST had written it with [the pop singer]" can be streamed in the YouTube clip below. Ol added, "This should ruffle a few feathers!"

EVILE will release its third album, "Five Serpents' Teeth", on September 26 via Earache Records. The CD was recorded at Parlour Studios in Kettering, U.K., with producer Russ Russell (NAPALM DEATH, DIMMU BORGIR),who also worked on the band's previous CD, 2009's "Infected Nations".

"Five Serpents' Teeth" track listing:

01. Five Serpents' Teeth
02. In Dreams of Terror
03. Cult
04. Eternal Empire
05. Xaraya
06. Origin of Oblivion
07. Centurion
08. In Memoriam
09. Descent Into Madness
10. Long Live New Flesh

"Eternal Empire" is now available for purchase at iTunes.

Commented Ol Drake: "There's such diversity through this album that I simply can't wait for people to hear these tracks. We spent a long time in the studio and at home figuring out the best order we could place these tracks in to flow perfectly through the album. The tracks go from the stomping heaviness of 'Cult' to the eeriness/melancholy of 'In Memoriam' to the pure insanity of 'Descent Into Madness'. You may have already hear 'Eternal Empire' at earache.com/fst, and if you were at Download festival last weekend and you came to see us, you heard 'Cult'."
