EVILE To Perform 'Cemetery Gates' Live For First Time In Texas

April 26, 2010

British thrashers EVILE have ridden into Texas with all the fervor of four riled up cowboys from hell. With the next few days bringing the band's final Texas appearances on this tour, EVILE has decided to do something special for its great fans in the lone star state. They will pay tribute to two men who have had an immense impact upon their lives — "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott and the band's late bassist, Mike Alexander — by performing their version of the PANTERA classic "Cemetery Gates" for the first time in front of lucky audiences tonight (Monday, April 26) at Emo's in Austin and Wednesday (April 28) at Tree in Dallas.

EVILE guitarist Ol Drake explains the roots of this idea in a short statement: "We were recently sat in the van looking at the dates on this OVERKILL run and we mentioned how cool the Texas dates will be. Then it hit me that Dimebag was born in Dallas, TX, and we recently covered 'Cemetery Gates' and received some good feedback on it. So we thought why not play it live in Dallas? I think it'd be a great tribute to Dime and PANTERA, and we love playing the song. We'll be playing very early at the Texas shows so please turn up early to see EVILE's set. The number of times people have come up to me saying they missed us from thinking the doors were later is ridiculous. I know that if Mike were here for this tour, he'd be the first to suggest doing this in Dallas, so we can't wait."

EVILE recorded "Cemetery Gates" in 2009 for a special Metal Hammer "Dimebag" Darrell Abbott (PANTERA, DAMAGEPLAN) tribute album. Tragically, it was also the last song the band recorded with its late bassist, Mike Alexander.

"Cemetery Gates" is available now exclusively on iTunes, and also features a special version of EVILE's track "Time No More", with Japanese vocals/lyrics.
