EX DEO Chooses Different Song For Next Video
December 8, 2009EX DEO, the Ancient Roman-themed arsenal led by KATAKLYSM frontman Maurizio Iacono, recently returned home after making its North American debut alongside ENSIFERUM and BLACKGUARD.
"If the debut shows in North America and Europe have had these results, the future looks bright as the empire rises from its ashes," Iacono states.
Plans exist for EX DEO to film a video for the song "The Final War (Battle Actium)" with renowned director Ivan Colic and producer Stanimir "Staca" Lukic (MOONSPELL, KAMELOT, DEATHSTARS, TYPE O NEGATIVE) in Belgrade, Serbia. The filming will take place in early January 2010 and the clip will be released in March to celebrate Mars, the ancient Roman god of war.
Commented Iacono: "After much discussion with the director Ivan Colic, we decided to go with 'The Final War (Battle Actium)' as the next video clip for [EX DEO's debut album] 'Romulus'. I love the song 'In Her Dark Embrace', which was initially the planned video track, but we've decided to bring the whole production one step higher and film 'The Final War (Battle Actium)'. The story line is amazing for this song and we will be able to capture not only Roman battle scenes and all the blood you want, but also the true story behind the war that turned Rome from a republic into an Empire. We're going full force with this one!"
"Romulus", the debut album from EX DEO, sold around 600 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD landed at position No. 90 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
Released on June 19 (Europe) and June 30 (North America) via Nuclear Blast Records, "Romulus" was recorded with producer (and KATAKLYSM guitarist) Jean-Francois Dagenais (MISERY INDEX, DESPISED ICON, MALEVOLENT CREATION).
