Ex-SKID ROW/SAIGON KICK Drummer's Documentary To Be Screened In Beverly Hills
April 13, 2005"Waking Up Dead", the new documentary starring former SAIGON KICK/SKID ROW drummer Phil Varone, will be shown at the Beverly Hills Film Festival on Saturday, April 16, 2005. The feature-length documentary was shown at the Chicago International Documentary Festival this past Saturday (April 9).
Producer-director Fabio Jafet says: "'Waking Up Dead' is an unprecedented backstage pass into the music business. Only a small minority of artists achieves true professional and financial success. This film is a hard look at what happens when your dreams just don’t come true. It is the real life rise and fall of a rock star."
The film takes the viewer through four turbulent years in the life of Phil Varone, former drummer for the rock bands SAIGON KICK and SKID ROW.
Varone says, "I traded everything … my family, friends and finances … all for my addictions and the world of sex, drugs and rock and roll. 'Waking Up Dead' is a great lesson on life for anyone who watches it."
Last weekend's screening of "Waking Up Dead" at the Chicago International Documentary Film Festival is already being marked as a huge success. The film was shown to a packed audience and ended with what film officials called, "the first standing ovation we've had at this festival."
