Ex-VAN HALEN Bassist MICHAEL ANTHONY At NAMM: Photos Available

January 22, 2008

Former VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony was on hand at the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) show in Anaheim, California to sign autographs for hundreds of fans at the Ampeg and Dean Markley booths on January 17 before jetting over to the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona to check out all the killer rods and sweet rides up on the auction block. According to a posting on Anthony's web site, "Michael is gearing up to join SAMMY HAGAR AND THE WABOS for a Vegas concert at the Palms Casino on February 2."

Anthony told Billboard.com last October that he's not going out of his way to keep tabs on VAN HALEN's current reunion tour with singer David Lee Roth but that "people tell me things, and I heard the tour's been fine." He admitted that he was "bummed out for a little bit" after being booted from the band — and especially after he was temporarily replaced from album cover images on the group's web site — but that he's largely over it.

"I'm totally fine with it now 'cause it is what it is," Anthony explained. "There's no use dwelling on it or whining about it. The fans know the band. They know what we've done, and I'm really proud of the history of the band. But I'm focusing on having fun and doing what Sam [Sammy Hagar] and I are out doing right now. As long as I keep that perspective on it, that's good."
