FATE Parts Ways With Singer, Seeks Replacement
November 13, 2008Reunited Danish hard rockers FATE have parted ways with singer Per Johansson. "The decision is mutual but this does not mean that this it is the end of FATE; couldn't be more far from it!" the band writes in a statement. "FATE will continue playing and is now looking for a new singer to fill the role! Singers that are interested and would like to audition for the position are welcome to send music files, bio and a photo to this address: [email protected]. It doesn't matter where you live, but the closer to Denmark the better."
FATE released its most recent album, "V", in April 2006 via MTM Music.
Formed back in the early '80s, FATE made itself quite a name on the metal/rock scene with four superb albums. The band came to life in 1984 when guitarist Hank Shermann left MERCYFUL FATE. Hank hooked up with fellow Copenhagen musicians, bass player Pete Steiner (a.k.a. Peter Steincke) and drummer Bob Lance (a.k.a. Bjarne Holm). Together they formed FATE with singer and entertainer Jeff "Lox" Limbo.
Years went by and FATE was still a name that reminded people of how great classic hard rock could actually be. It was MTM Music who managed to get the rights for the re-issues of "A Matter Of Attitude" and "Scratch N Sniff" to build up a possible comeback. The guys got the offer to play the prestigious Deep Impact Festival in Germany in 2004, and of course this was too good an offer to turn down. So Peter, Per, Søren and temporary drummer Rasmus Duedahl took the trip down there, and had a really good response from fans and media.
Ignited by the overwhelming response to the re-releases, FATE eventually decided to give it another shot, and with the lineup of Peter, Per, Søren and new drummer Mikael Kvist (from Swedish prog-metal band ELSESPHERE),FATE recorded "V" with producer Tommy Hansen (who did "Scratch N Sniff" back in 1990, as well as having produced bands like HELLOWEEN, PRETTY MAIDS, TNT and many more).
