FILTER Frontman RICHARD PATRICK's A PLACE TO KILL Project Announces Second EP 'APTK2'

A PLACE TO KILL, the industrial brainchild of Richard Patrick, legendary vocalist of FILTER and former member of NINE INCH NAILS, alongside Jim Louvau, vocalist of THERE IS NO US and renowned photographer and acclaimed music video director, will release its new EP, "APTK2", on November 13, 2026 via Patrick's No Pulse Records.

Alongside the announcement, A PLACE TO KILL will unleash "Keep My Name Out Of Your Mouth", the first single from "APTK2", on September 25, accompanied by a new music video. A volatile collision of metal and industrial aggression, "Keep My Name Out Of Your Mouth" turns confrontation into an anthem. Punishing rhythms, distorted electronics and dark, cinematic production fuel Louvau's menacing delivery alongside Patrick's unmistakable vocals. Together, the pair creates a relentlessly confrontational track — a warning shot wrapped in crushing production and seething attitude.

Patrick comments: "Super proud of this new EP. It's even heavier and crazier than the first one. The post-apocalypse never sounded so good."

"APTK2" follows the duo's seven-song self-titled debut EP, "APTK", released in June 2026 to critical praise and attention from outlets including SiriusXM Octane and Revolver magazine, including an exclusive Revolver vinyl release.. Produced by Patrick in his Los Angeles studio, the debut introduced the project's volatile sonic landscape of crushing electronics, trap-inspired rhythms and relentless dual vocals. Patrick and Louvau trade vocal duties throughout A PLACE TO KILL, pushing beyond the familiar structures of their previous projects to create a sound that is fierce, untamed and resolutely future-focused.

"We were so overwhelmed at the response we received after we released the first EP that we wanted to get back into the studio as soon as possible to work on the follow-up and give people more new music — and to also make it clear that this wasn't just a one-off side project," says Louvau. "'APTK2' sounds more focused, more ferocious, and more pissed off than ever. We took some new roads this time around, and these songs feel more cinematic and serve as a soundtrack to the aftermath of a world that destroyed itself due to greed and betrayal."

The roots of the collaboration stretch back nearly two decades. Louvau first met Patrick in 2008 when he interviewed him before a FILTER show. Years later, Patrick attended THERE IS NO US's second-ever performance at The Roxy in West Hollywood, where Louvau's blistering live performance made a lasting impression.

"We would always talk about starting a project together whenever we spoke or saw each other," says Louvau.

That collaboration began taking shape when Louvau contributed backing vocals to FILTER's 2020 track "Murica". The experience ultimately helped provide the catalyst for A PLACE TO KILL.

"When I started this band, the music was meant as a tribute to the raw hostility of humanity," says Patrick. "It was heavy, confrontational, and honest. When it came time to find the right voice, I thought back to working with Jim on the FILTER track 'Murica'. His voice was absolutely explosive — a pure noise machine with power and presence I couldn't ignore. That's when I knew I had to ask him to front A PLACE TO KILL."

A PLACE TO KILL fuses industrial trap metal with raw hostility, jagged electronics, pulverizing rhythms and dual vocals that shift between searing aggression and controlled menace. Rather than revisiting the past, Patrick and Louvau reject nostalgia in favor of an unapologetically aggressive modern sound built to confront the future head-on.

Last month, Patrick told Razor of Tucson, Arizona's Rock 102.1 KFMA radio station about his songwriting chemistry with Louvau: "It's very spontaneous. It's not over-thought out. I mean, we just get in, we write some lyrics, we put some vocals on it, and just make it work musically and in a short amount of time. And that's why we're already — we've released one EP already, and we're already releasing a second, because there's so much music that we could just keep pumping out because it's so spontaneous and easy. And when something comes along and it's really fun and easy to make, that is 90% of the reason why bands break up, because they hit a brick wall creatively. They get blocked. And with us, it's just, like, let's just keep going until the wheels fall off. Let's just keep going and making new music while it's fun and exciting."

On the topic of A PLACE TO KILL possibly performing live, Richard said: "I could see something within the next couple of years, for sure. Something would be cool to do. FILTER goes out, maybe A PLACE TO KILL opens up for FILTER. There's a few ideas swimming around out there that we like."

As for what A PLACE TO KILL's live show might look like, Patrick said: "It's gonna be us two and some smoke, some fog machines and some lights. And just us two laying it down. It comes more from, like, if you see a kid like Scarlxrd or something, or Deadmau5 or something, it's more of an EDM approach towards a live scenario. So it'd be just the two of us. It wouldn't have a lot of people on stage — no dancers or anything crazy. Just us bringing it. I could see us on festivals, for sure. I could see us coming out in festivals, for sure. Yeah."
