FIREWIND Guitarist Comments On NAMM Appearance

January 23, 2007

The brand new album, "Allegiance", from the Greek metal powerhouse FIREWIND was released today in the U.S. and features the young guitar phenomenon known as Gus G. (ex-DREAM EVIL, NIGHTRAGE, MYSTIC PROPHECY, ARCH ENEMY). Gus — who turned heads with his stunning "Betcha Can't Play This" feature in Guitar World, while Total Guitar magazine hailed him as metal's newest guitar sensation — attended the NAMM show in Anaheim last weekend to promote the debut of his ESP guitars signature series.

Gus further describes his excitement over his NAMM appearance and the album's U.S. release: "ESP launched my new signature models and the response from the guitar-heads and fans was great! On Saturday, I did a signing session with one of my heroes, Michael Wilton (QUEENSRŸCHE),and Will Adler (LAMB OF GOD),which was a lot of fun as were the crazy parties that went on every night at the hotel bar!

"I am very excited to announce that our new album, 'Allegiance', is now available in the U.S. The response from the press is really amazing! Our music finally has good U.S. distribution and promotion. All you have to do is go to your local record store, get a copy and pledge your 'Allegiance'.

"There's plenty of tour dates coming in 2007, and they definitely involve a U.S. tour as well. Stay tuned for more info, and thanks for the support.'

FIREWIND is set to make its highly anticipated U.S. debut at ProgPower USA, which takes place in Atlanta on Oct. 5-6. They recently completed a massive European and U.K. tour as direct support to DRAGONFORCE, which marked the kick-off of the "Allegiance" world tour. The group also recently launched their own YouTube page (Fire TV),which features some exclusive material and their new "Falling to Pieces" video. Click here to check it out.

"Allegiance" peaked at No. 10 on the Greek album charts and spent six weeks in the Top 20, a further testament to the group's growing presence throughout Europe. The album is a must for any fan of DRAGONFORCE, ICED EARTH, HAMMERFALL or anyone who claims to be a heavy metal fanatic.

After catching the metal community's attention with 2005's "Forged In Fire", the group has triumphantly returned with "Allegiance", which is a dynamic display of traditional heavy metal with more of an emphasis on speed, technicality and catchy songwriting. This effort marks the first album with new vocalist Apollo Papathanasio (ex-MAJESTIC, TIME REQUIEM) and drummer Mark Cross (ex-HELLOWEEN, METALIUM),whose talents had a prominent impact on the creative process. "Allegiance" was mixed at the famed Studio Fredman with the acclaimed Fredrik Nordström (HAMMERFALL, ARCH ENEMY, OPETH).
