FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH Drummer Says He 'Loves' It When BLABBERMOUTH.NET Haters Get 'Creative'

December 8, 2011

Musik Universe conducted an interview with guitarist Jason Hook and drummer Jeremy Spencer of Las Vegas-based metallers FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH when the band played at Metropolis in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on December 4, 2011 as part of the "Share The Welt" tour with HATEBREED and ALL THAT REMAINS. You can now watch the chat in two parts below.

When asked about the overwhelmingly negative comments their band receives on BLABBERMOUTH.NET every time a FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH story is posted on the site, Jason said, "I skip right to the comments, actually. I'm like, 'Oh, a story on us….' Right to the bottom." Jeremy added, "I think it's great, man. I just want it to be creative when they dog us. I wanna see something that's really funny that sticks out, 'cause I love it; I think it's great. The bonehead, stupid, typical dogging, that's not funny to me, but if they go out of their way to be creative, I love it. I say, bring that stuff on; that's awesome." Jason continued, "I don't know if you're aware, but our first single off [the latest FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH album] 'American Capitalist', 'Under And Over It', was specifically written for the people that leave those comments. That song went to No. 3 on the Active Rock charts. So again, it winds back up in our favor, which I think is fantastic. Which creates more comments: 'I can't believe these assholes have a No. 3 fucking song…' So, to me, I think it's a win-win — I enjoy it."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH fans are able to get the brand new cover art for the band's current album, "American Capitalist". It features an illustration of the group's ubiquitous "mascot," Knucklehead, over the backdrop of Times Square in New York City.

The new Knucklehead illustration only replaces the regular edition album version of "American Capitalist", while the deluxe edition artwork remains the same.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH recently released the second single from "American Capitalist", "Remember Everything", which is rapidly shooting up the Active Rock chart.

"American Capitalist" debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart, selling 91,000 copies in its first week of release. Both the chart and sales numbers were career highs for the group.

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH's previous two albums, 2007's "The Way Of The Fist" and 2009's "War Is The Answer", are both certified gold for sales of more than 500,000 copies each.

The group's label, Prospect Park — which also doubles as its management — plans an extensive 18-month campaign behind the new disc.
