FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH: Video Interview Available

September 5, 2011

John Perry of the 95.1 WIIL Rock radio station in Kenosha, Wisconsin conducted an interview with FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH when the band played at the first-ever WIIL Rock The Ranch festival on August 13, 2011 in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. You can now watch the chat below.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH spoke out to calm fans after it was revealed that the group had commissioned a dubstep remix of its current single, "Under And Over It", by DJ and producer Kraddy. The unveiling of the remix described by the band as a "dubstep-infused version in sync with the original" did not go over well with hardcore followers. One wrote, "If it gets 5FDP to another audience, fine, but this actually kinda pussifies the song," while another stated bluntly, "I love dubstep and I love 5FDP, but that was not good, like at all."

While some fans showed their support for the remix as a sign of the band's diversity, many more said things like, "Being served a steaming pile of crap for dinner diversifies your menu but it doesn't make the dish more palatable."

Finally the band itself issued a statement online, saying, "Before all the confusion starts with the 'Under And Over' remix we are not turning into a dubstep or step dance act any time soon . . . We heard a couple of remixes we thought were interesting and felt like sharing them with you guys."

Guitarist Zoltan Bathory told The Pulse Of Radio that FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is not afraid to take risks with its music sometimes. "We are here to step forward and take as much development in anything we do as it is possible, and that's the mentality and that's gonna be in every aspect," he said. "We're gonna kind of push the envelope, maybe go overboard here and there, but, you know, that's the idea."

FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH is not the first heavy rock act to experiment with dubstep, a dark, ominous-sounding form of electronic dance music. KORN is releasing an album of collaborations with dubstep artists this fall.

Following some festival dates this month, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will headline a package tour called "Share The Welt" that kicks off on October 16 in San Francisco. Also on the bill is ALL THAT REMAINS, HATEBREED and REV THEORY.
