Florida Teacher Reprimanded For Including NIKKI SIXX's Memoir On Suggested Reading List
September 13, 2010According to the St. Petersburg Times, a Florida high-school teacher was reprimanded for including MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx's memoir, "The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star" on a suggested reading list without approval from school administrators.
Hernando High School teacher Jason Galitsky (pictured below),31, thought the book — which was previously described as " a brutally honest look at Sixx's hellish year, one which saw him overdose and be declared clinically dead at one point while MÖTLEY CRÜE toured behind its 'Girls, Girls, Girls' album — would be an effective, though optional, supplement to his Advanced Placement psychology course.
"Regardless of the circumstances, it is your responsibility to protect students from conditions that may be harmful to their mental and/or physical well-being and/or safety and to protect the from embarrassment," superintendent Bryan Blavatt wrote in a letter of reprimand.

"The Heroin Diaries: A Year in the Life of a Shattered Rock Star" (originally released September 18, 2007 via MTV Pocketbooks/Simon & Schuster) debuted at #7 on The New York Times Book Review non-fiction best-seller list.
Twenty-five percent of the book's profits are being donated to Running Wild In The Night — Sixx's fundraising initiative for Covenant House California, which helps keep runaway, abused and abandoned youth off the streets.
