FLOTSAM AND JETSAM Parts Ways With Guitarist MARK SIMPSON
December 12, 2010Veteran Arizona metallers FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have officially parted ways with their guitarist of the last 13 years, Mark Simpson. Simpson says in a statement, "I've decided to leave the band. No bad blood at all, of course. Those guys are my brothers, nothing will ever change that, and I will continue to support them always.
He adds, "I'm ridiculously happy [FLOTSAM AND JETSAM's new album] 'The Cold' is doing so well in the press and with the fans but I'm just taking this moment to move on and try something new. It's as simple as that.
"Thanks to everyone that I've had a chance to work with and a huge thank you to all the passionate and loyal fans that I had the honor to meet over the years. Buy 'The Cold'! Flots out."
FLOTSAM AND JETSAM will perform at club Caradura in Mexico City, Mexico on January 14 and January 15. The band's lineup for the concerts will include guitarists Michael Gilbert and Edward Carlson, who will share the stage for the first time in about 14 years.
"The Cold" was released on September 14 via Driven Music Group, the label created by former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch. According to Simpson, the CD features "10 songs — ALL brutal, ALL killer, NO filler!!" The cover artwork, which can be viewed below, was once created by Travis Smith (OPETH, NEVERMORE),a collaboration that the band is "extremely excited about because of his amazing skill and vision," says Simpson.
