For Some Fans, METALLICA's St. Anger's Day Arrives Earlier Than Expected

June 4, 2003

In a repeat of Memorial Day weekend 2002, when EMINEM's "The Eminem Show" was put on store shelves as soon as shipments arrived, a day or two before the official street date, numerous retailers are already selling METALLICA's "St. Anger", ignoring the Thursday release date (bumped-up from June 10 earlier this week). Hits Daily Double reports that some Best Buy stores are doing brisk business this afternoon with the album, which it has priced at $9.99, while Tower (which is selling it for $11.99) has put out an internal memo telling employees to put the release out as soon as it arrives, obviously reacting to rampant street-date violations across the country.

The band's tenth album (eighth studio album),"St. Anger" will reportedly be hitting the streets with orders for over 1.6 million. The CD, which was produced by Bob Rock at the band's Headquarters in San Rafael, California, includes a free DVD featuring live rehearsal recordings of all eleven songs, also captured at the band's HQ. Also included is a four-color, 28-page booklet with lyrics, a sneak peak at the METALLICA video game currently in development (scheduled to be released late 2004/early 2005),and a link to some other METALLICA goodies on the web.
