Former ALICE IN CHAINS Guitarist Says Rock Band Experience Is Meant To Be Treasured

May 20, 2005

Former ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell recently spoke to Launch Radio Networks about CARDBOARD VAMPYRES, the covers band he formed with former THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy.

Cantrell told Launch that CARDBOARD VAMPYRES is meant to celebrate how much fun it is to be in a rock band. "That's something to remember with bands, is enjoy it while it happens, you know," he said. "Enjoy the hell out of it while it happens, from a fan standpoint and being in it, because it's very individual and more often than not, it's pretty short. I've had an amazing experience and. you know, we're still lucky enough to be able to have options to do stuff, and it's something that should be treasured, you know. It really should. It should be celebrated too, and that's that this band's about."

The band, who have just been joined by vocalist Eric Dover (ex-SLASH'S SNAKEPIT, ALICE COOPER) and drummer Bevan Davies (COMES WITH FALL, ex-DANZIG),will hit the road this June and July.

CARDBOARD VAMPYRES plays songs from both ALICE IN CHAINS and THE CULT, as well as BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN, PINK FLOYD and METALLICA.

Jerry Cantrell is also currently recording new material for his next solo album in Los Angeles. Ex-JANE'S ADDICTION drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Chris Wyse have joined Cantrell in the studio. Cantrell will perform tonight at a MusiCares/MAP Fund benefit concert honoring JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro and California promoters Goldenvoice at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood, California. Navarro, Perkins and Wyse will also perform.
