Former ARCH ENEMY Guitarist Talks About Signature Guitar At MUSIKMESSE (Video)
April 9, 2012Premier Guitar filmed former ARCH ENEMY guitarist Christopher Amott talking about his new signature Dellinger-CA VW guitar at the Musikmesse Frankfurt 2012 fair — which took place March 21-24 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The five-and-a-half-minute clip can be seen below.
The Caparison Christopher Amott Dellinger-CA VW (Vintage White) model has a distinctly vintage look but with all the attributes that you would expect from a modern boutique quality instrument.
The beautiful Vintage White gloss finish is perfectly complemented by the Chrome hardware and bridge pickup mounting ring and the unique Art Deco-inspired fingerboard inlays really sets this guitar apart.
DiMarzio pickups mounted onto a solid Mahogany body help bring out the full rich sonic qualities of the guitar.
The Dellinger-CA VW has a single volume control, placed further away from the normal position, and no tone control to give you more bite, presence and to drive your amp a little harder.
Christopher Amott left ARCH ENEMY in March in order to pursue his solo career. He said in a statement, "I'm gonna continue to be very active in music, working with all kinds of styles — this does not rule out metal. I have just recorded a new solo album, set to be released in April."
ARCH ENEMY has recruited 26-year-old American guitarist Nick Cordle (ARSIS) to replace Christopher. The band said in a statement, "There is no drama behind the scenes here. This is the best way forward for all involved. Christopher simply isn't into playing extreme metal anymore. We have already chosen and rehearsed with a new guitar player and we will complete the 'Khaos Legions' 2012 touring cycle as planned."
Christopher Amott started his career in music in 1995 as a founding creative force and guitarist in ARCH ENEMY. In this context, he is known for his tastefully technical guitar work and memorably emotive playing style.
After garnering his early success, Christopher had the desire to express himself on a personal level in the same genre. At this time he began writing albums under the name ARMAGEDDON. Christopher wrote and recorded three albums over the next few years as ARCH ENEMY grew into an internationally recognized act, with his compositions featuring his own vocal stylings on the last album. This would be Christopher's first foray into singing and a spark of inspiration for his later musical ventures.
In 2008, Christopher began to consider his creative options as a mature musician. He began writing songs of an entirely different atmosphere, which saw his guitar playing focused less on technical ecstasy and more on a chord-based blues rock ambience as a foundation for more prominent vocal and lyrical ideas. These compositions developed into his next solo project; the album would be called "Follow Your Heart", released under his own name in 2010.
