Former BELLADONNA Guitarist: Collaboration With ANTHRAX Singer Was More Than 'Quick One-Off'

November 8, 2005

Former BELLADONNA guitarist Matt Zuber has slammed ANTHRAX frontman Joey Belladonna for describing their collaboration as "a flash" and a "quick one-off" after the guitarist allegedly moved to upstate New York in order to join Belladonna's band.

In an interview with File 13, Belladonna was asked what Zuber has been up to while Joey is touring with ANTHRAX. "Uh, I don't pay attention to Matt so much, ya know," he replied. "We did a quick one-off and, you know, Matt gets into the zone where you know, 'I'm doing my own thing, I've got my own band,' you know, 'It's all me, me, this, this and that.' They really don't know how to stick with something for a minute and let it roll. So I don't really pay attention to what he's doing, ya know. We did something really so quick, it was like a flash. It was 11 days, and it was that was it, ya know. He definitely pursues my image of some sort along with his endeavors but there's really nothing I can pinpoint about what he's doing. I honestly don't pay attention. I wish him good luck."

In response to Belladonna's comments, Zuber has sent the following message to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"I gave up my life in the D.C. metro area to MOVE to Syracuse, NY in 1997 to join BELLADONNA and stayed and considered it my life for as long as possible! Not exactly an 'eleven-day one-off!' Yes, I've also written my solo stuff, which never got in the way of what we were doing. What would I be doing right now without my band while the [ANTHRAX] reunion was happening? Sit out? Wait until you say go? Thank God for the Internet and Blabbermouth that a peon such as myself can at least voice my side to whom it may concern. New song samples up soon at MattZuber.com (sorry, I went 'into the zone' again.)"
