Former BLACK ROSE Singer Working On Solo Material

April 27, 2009

Steve Bardsley (a.k.a. Ste V Lee) , former lead singer of the NWOBHM (New Wave Of British Heavy Metal) band BLACK ROSE, has started writing and recording his own solo material. A couple of tracks are currently available for streaming on his MySpace page.

Says Steve, "In December 2008, I finally got my home studio off the ground and I started to write and record some material of my own. I'm still learning and it's gonna take some time 'cos I'm no great sound engineer (or musician, come to think of it haha…) but it's great fun and I love being in total control of what I'm doing. Everything you hear on these songs is played and sang by me with the exception of the drums, which I didn't actually physically play but I used various loops and samples to create the patterns. I'm obviously very influenced by '80s rock music and I think it shows in my songwriting and although I don't purposely set out to copy other bands music or style, I think it's true to say that I'm not exactly original with my music. So there you have it, this is my passion and I hope you like what I've done."

Bardsley was a member of BLACK ROSE from 1980 until the band split in 1989.
