Former CELTIC FROST Guitarist RON MARKS Announces Touring Lineup For SUBSONIC Project

October 3, 2008

Former CELTIC FROST guitarist Ron Marks, who currently fronts his solo project dubbed SUBSONIC, has issued the following update:

"Just who do you have to *&% to form a band around here? After completing some four studio albums and three music videos, I was asking that question often. Seemingly countless meetings with rock wannabees (who would flake out before even one rehearsal) were driving me nuts, and for years.

"I guess that the idea of playing in a band like mine sounded cool until these people realized what it was going to take on their part to make it all happen. I even met a few prospective members who were glad to keep buying rounds while they went on about their 'extensive' experiences in the music industry. I swear one guy spent fifty bucks by the time he finished presenting me his verbal resume. He never returned one of my phone calls.

"And there were two other instances where players first said yes to SUBSONIC, and only weeks later decided their loyalties were better spent with whatever local cover band they were in at that time. Wow. Talk about feeling alone in a roomful of musicians. This felt more like solitary confinement. It was as if we were speaking different languages, which was not far from true.

"Fortunately (or not),I'm no stranger to frustrations that come with show-biz and kept writing and recording material. After recently finishing an acoustic release, I decided it was time to try again for a live lineup. Well, praise the lord and pass the ammunition! This time I was actually able to find three other musicians with aspirations beyond playing Mustang Sally for sixty bucks a night. Darren DiPreta (bass),Brandon Park (guitar) and Troy Allshouse (drums) complete SUBSONIC's live lineup. Their collective professionalism and commitment to the material is world-class. This was worth the wait.

"We are heavily into rehearsals and will begin performing on October 18th at The Cove (Geneva On The Lake, OH),and on November 2nd at The Cellar (Struthers, OH). Please email our site for tickets. I've also taken back control of SUBSONIC promotional duties and am glad to say that responses have been really positive, and quite encouraging for the future. We will begin playing regional shows and hopefully branching outward as opportunities arise. Subsequent shows will be posted as they are confirmed.

"I gotta go and practice now. This stuff isn't easy, you know. Hope to see you at the shows."

SUBSONIC released its third album, "Blood Groove", on March 1 via Nexiardé Music.
