Former DERANGED Guitarist Issues Statement Regarding Split

April 7, 2008

Guitarist Johan Axelsson of the Swedish death metallers DERANGED who recently split up has released the following statement to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:

"I'm really sad and surprised that it should end like this.

"First of all I would like to thank all the fans that have supported the band during the years I would also like to thank all the bands we have played with

"In my opinion, me and Martin [Schnherr, vocals] was agreed on the same thing that it didnt feel right to do the [previously announced] shows after Rikard's [Wermn, drums] decision to leave the band. Thomas [Ahlgren, bass] disagreed and still wanted to do the shows. It left Martin and me the majority [of] the remaining band to take the decision.

"I don't understand what did change that. When I read the official statement regarding the split, I [didn't] see any agreements and me Johan [were made out] to be the ones that split up the band. I was also surprised when I heard that there was another version of the story when I talked with Thomas. 'Cause of reason unknown?? I mean, if Rikard quit the band, where is the future of the band anyway?"

DERANGED's seventh full-length album, "The Redlight Murder Case", was released last month via Regain Records. Wermn previously stated about the CD, "It is the best musical work we have so far accomplished under the name DERANGED. It's brutal and insane, and will hopefully leave you dead with a broken neck in the pit."
