Former DLM Guitarist Sentenced For Designing And Distributing Computer Viruses
May 3, 2006According to TrimMail.com, a science student listed as a former guitarist for Kazakhstan heavy metal band DLM has been sentenced to a two-year suspended term for designing and distributing via the Internet a number of computer viruses, including the "deadly" Chernobyl, Gazeta.ru said Tuesday.
Sergey Kazachkov from Voronezh has been found guilty of setting up two web sites with more than 4,000 viruses, among them the Chernobyl program that caused damage to computer users all over the world, reports MosNews.com.
Chernobyl was the first ever computer virus that could damage hardware by destroying the contents of Flash BIOS. Morever, it erases data from all the local discs.
Kazachkov got a suspended sentence of two years with a year's probation period.
