Former LED ZEPPELIN Bassist Joins 'Guitar Wars' Lineup

Former LED ZEPPELIN bassist John Paul Jones has been added to the lineup of musicians performing a couple of shows in Japan at the end of the month under the banner "Guitar Wars". Jones will join guitarists Paul Gilbert (RACER X/ex-MR. BIG),Nuno Bettencourt (ex-EXTREME) and Steve Hackett (ex-GENESIS) at the following dates:

Aug. 29 - Tokyo, JAP @ Akasaka BLITZ
Sep. 01 - Osaka, JAP @ Namba Hatch

As previously reported, Gilbert will be joining forces with DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy as well as Dave LaRue (DIXIE DREGS, PLANET X) on bass and Daniel Gildenlöw (PAIN OF SALVATION) on vocals in a one-off LED ZEPPELIN tribute band, HAMMER OF THE GODS, which will appear at the Montreal Drum Festival on Friday, November 7. A "warm-up" gig that will be open to the general public may take place a few days prior to the festival. More details will be made available soon.
