Former MEGADETH Leader Enters Custom Street Chopper Business

July 11, 2003

Former MEGADETH leader Dave Mustaine took part in the grand opening of "Chris Olson Customs Hot bikes and Street Choppers" in Spokane, Washington on June 21.

Dave and his wife Pam are co-owners of the custom street chopper business.

Chris Olson and Dave have been friends for over 20 years — having met back in the days even before Dave joined METALLICA.

Chris is an experienced custom bike builder who has been building custom bikes and street rods for over 10 years. When the business plan for the shop was presented to Dave, he immediately knew he wanted to be involved.

The grand opening event on June 21 was a huge success. The event was broadcast by KKZK 98.9 FM in Spokane. Luna Moona, a DJ at the station emceed the event. Free "Krispy Kremes" donuts and "Chicago Boys" pizza were provided by the local shops. There was also a drawing for an ESP guitar signed by Dave, and many local musicians also showed up to meet him.

The big surprise of the day was that local chapters of the "Hells Angels" and the "Gypsy Jokers" showed up to introduce themselves. Thankfully, the two clubs called a truce recently and there were no problems for that day.

There was a constant stream of people coming throughout the day and over 1000 people in total attended. A bunch of people hung around in the parking lot for about an hour after the event ended. Dave hung out and talked with visitors and signed autographs all day.

The shop's web site is currently under development (www.chrisolsoncustoms.com). You will eventually be able to build your own custom bike online and place your order with the shop. The shop is fully operational and ready to take your orders over the phone or in person.

Dave will also be actively involved with the shop, and he even intends on designing his own model for you to check out!
