September 22, 2006

WITCHBREED (Photo#1, Photo#2),the new Portuguese metal band formed by bassist Ares (ex-MOONSPELL, currently in DEEPSKIN) and guitarist Dikk (ex-DEEPSKIN),has just released its debut promo CD, entitled "Descending Fires". The group, which is fronted by Ruby (Photo#1, Photo#2) a female vocalist born on the Portuguese Atlantic island Madeira, has completed 11 original songs so far — all of them containing "mystic atmospheres and aggressive old school riffs drawing influences from IRON MAIDEN to NEVERMORE, from SLAYER to METALLICA or from CELTIC FROST to CANDLEMASS," according to a press release.

Rounded out by Filipe Sousa (ex-SHADOWSPHERE; guitar) and Tiago Lopes (MONS LVNAE; drums),WITCHBREED has been rehearsing for its first live performances, which are currently being booked for the fall. WITCHBREED will also be shopping its CD to interested labels but is in "no rush" to get signed, according to the group's press release.
