Former SAXON Drummer NIGEL DURHAM Dead At 61

October 25, 2026

Former SAXON drummer Nigel Durham, who played on the band’s 1988 album "Destiny", has died at the age of 61.

On Saturday, October 24, SAXON took to social media to write: "We are very sad to hear of the passing of a member of the SAXON family, former drummer Nigel Durham.

"We send our love and thoughts to his wife Lauretta, daughter Gemma, his grandchildren, and family."

A cause of death has not been revealed.

SAXON's current drummer Nigel Glockler commented on Durham's passing, writing on social media: "RIP my friend, Nigel Durham — I will see you on the other side. Love and strength to Lauretta, his daughter and family."

Durham was the drummer for SAXON from 1987 to 1988 and replaced Glockler to play on the aforementioned "Destiny" album.

Following his departure from SAXON, Durham played with OLIVER/DAWSON SAXON, a group formed by former SAXON members Graham Oliver and Steve Dawson. His recording credits with OLIVER/DAWSON SAXON included "Re://Landed" and "It's Alive".

In 2013, he joined MORPHEUS RISING as that band's full-time drummer.
