Former VEIL OF MAYA Vocalist LUKAS MAGYAR Announces New SIFYN EP 'Self-Encrypted'

Minneapolis pop-metalcore outfit SIFYN, founded by former VEIL OF MAYA vocalist Lukas Magyar, pulls at the threads of pain, connection and survival on its brand new single, "Code", out now. The track also arrives alongside the announcement of the band's forthcoming EP, "Self-Encrypted", set for release on December 4. Fusing the impact of metal with alternative rock, atmosphere, emo vulnerability, and pop-forward melody, "Code" is an urgent first glimpse into SIFYN's evolving sound. Beginning with the flicker of a television screen lost in static, the brand new video for "Code" erupts in a kaleidoscope of color and flashing lights to heighten the track's tension of between the urge to protect someone and the reality that they must find their own way forward. As anticipation builds for "Self-Encrypted", "Code" sets the pace for a new SIFYN chapter that is brighter, bolder, and built around an even stronger sense of momentum.

Reflecting on the strain of carrying the weight of someone else's pain on "Code", Magyar shares: "We can't wait to see how people react to our new sound. "Code" is full of brilliant moments and I think our fans will agree. It'll give everyone a glimpse of what is next for us."

Drawing weight from metalcore with alt-rock textures, emo's volatility, and pop-minded melodies, SIFYN has found a way to make heavy music with a danceable pulse. Sharpening the contrast between intensity and immediacy, "Code" introduces the upcoming "Self-Encrypted" EP as a new phase for the Minneapolis band, one that is colorful while unbridled.

Founded by Magyar, SIFYN made its debut with "Marionette" in 2022 and have continued to expand its palette with every release. What began as a creative outlet beyond Magyar's longtime work in heavy music became a space to follow different instincts: bigger melodic swings, looser genre boundaries, and songwriting that makes room for both technical weight and straight-to-the-chest emotion.

For nearly a decade, SIFYN has lived in a state of constant evolution, growing from a studio project into a full-fledged metal outfit comprising vocalist Lukas Magyar, guitarists Mike Green and Dustin Korth, bassist/co-writer Derek Sampson and drummer Avery Frisk. Along the way, the Minnesota-based quintet has developed a similar sonic restlessness, spinning a genre-blending sound that pulls from modern alternative rock, metalcore and early-2000s emo — muscular rhythms, skyward guitars, shimmering electronics and tightly layered vocals all filtered through Cyberpunk-sheen production. But rather than pledge allegiance to any one scene, SIFYN follow their instincts wherever they lead.

That freedom reaches a new level on "Self-Encrypted", the band's new five-song EP and most personal collection to date. Where the group's 2022 debut, "Marionette", often channeled pieces of Magyar's life through fictional characters, "Self-Encrypted" fully closes the distance between songwriter and subject, grappling with loved ones in crisis, identity, ideology, dreams, reality and personal agency with the urgency of a deathbed confessional. By narrowing its perspective to lived experience, SIFYN's music feels more universal than ever, leaving room for listeners to enter the story — not simply observing the band's search for answers, but asking critical questions of their own right alongside them.
