Former WHITE ZOMBIE Bassist Explores Her Artistic Side

Former WHITE ZOMBIE and current ROCK CITY MORGUE bassist Sean Yseult recently had her first art opening at the Sylvia Schmidt Gallery, on Gallery Row of New Orleans, Julia Street. Yseult and fellow post-modern artist Louis St. Lewis' joint exhibit "Strangers in Paradox" received rave reviews, and one of Sean's pieces will be on display at the Rawk Show in Austin, Texas during South by Southwest Music Festival (SXSW). Before she picked up her first bass guitar, Yseult studied at the North Carolina School of the Arts, then at Parson's School of Design in New York, where she specialized in photography and graphic arts.

The Times-Picayune art critic Doug MacCash recently had the following to say about Sean's contributions to the "Strangers in Paradox" exhibit: "Yseult recreates deliberately imperfect antique photos (with flaring light leaks, gaps in the negatives, etc.) that she surrounds with thick, gilded frames. Her subjects are diaphanously dressed young women, reclining in the limbs of live oaks, floating Ophelia-like in pools of water and striking other picturesque poses. Her faux-antique photos have the dreamy, gently erotic tone of vintage French champagne ads. But Yseult pushes her period photos abruptly into the 21st Century by back-lighting them like drive-through restaurant signs."

In other news, ROCK CITY MORGUE's new record is currently in production and should be available by the end of March or early April. The new four-song EP, titled "These are Dark Days", will be released on CD and 10" vinyl through Antidote Records. The track listing includes "Disconnected", "Trouble", "Don't Leave Me Haunted", and "People Are Wrong".
