FORTE To Debut New Material During Hometown Gig

September 13, 2010

New-age Nineties power metal band FORTE from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma — featuring MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP bassist Rev Jones — will support ANTHRAX on September 23 at Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City. FORTE will premiere material from its forthcoming album, "Unholy War", to be released in January 2011 through an as-yet-undetermined European label. According to a press release, the CD "is a huge step forward in production and presentation," featuring "blinding riffs, machine-gun drumming and powerful vocals. The cover artwork is being handled by Stripe Schinzel (ANVIL, WATCHTOWER, W.A.S.P.).

In early 2011, FORTE will re-release its classic debut LP, "Stranger Than Fiction", through U.S. label Divebomb Recordings, limited to 1,000 numbered copies. The album will be a two-disc set, featuring a remastered version of "Stranger Than Fiction" as well as a second disc containing the band's classic "Dementia By Design" and "Forte 91" demos, as well as live video, new cover art, liner notes and an extensive booklet of classic FORTE memorabilia.

In other news, FORTE will co-headline a Halloween show in Oklahoma City on October 30 with old friends and metal warriors WARBEAST.

According to the BNR Metal Pages, FORTE released four quality albums in the Nineties, with their style being a power/thrash mixture not unlike early METAL CHURCH. Since their last release ("Rise Above", in 1999),several lineups have been reported, with the Scott brothers remaining the core of the band, and work was supposed to be underway on a new album, but nothing has yet come of this. Most recently (May 2004),a new band called THE KILL has emerged, featuring several former members (though not the Scotts).
